I have recently replaced my 3 Logitech Squeezeboxes with 3 Raspberry Pis running piCorePlayer. 2 of them are 3A+s and the other is a 3B.

Raspberry Pi 3A+ with 5″ touch screen, an Adafruit speaker bonnet and speakers.
Raspberry Pi 3B with 7″ touch screen and JustBoom Digi HAT. Digital coaxial output connected to AV receiver.
This was my weather station and was powered by a Raspberry Pi 3A+ running Raspbian Buster lite with pywws.
Unfortunately the base station kept losing connection with either the weather station or the Pi.
So I’ve now replaced it with a Raspberry Pi running weewx that receives data from the weather station sensors using a DVB-T USB stick as SDR (Software Defined Radio). This is read using rtl_433 with a WH25 combined pressure/humidity and temperature sensor inside the house.
It still uploads data to Wunderground, Windy, openweathermap and weathercloud, but I also send a Tweet on the hour with the current weather information and a photo from the camera.
I asked our daughter the other day if she wanted to learn how to do some programming and she said “yes, she would”. I haven’t really done much programming since BBC BASIC over 20 years ago, so I decided to go for Python.
This book Python For Kids seemed to be the ideal book as it is for adults who haven’t programmed as well as for children.

Visited the local Comet store at the weekend and came across this netbook running Ubuntu Netbook remix. Looked quite smart and very easy to use. I did think about asking the staff about it, but remembering what they’re like for answering technical questions I thought again. Update: Thanks to my wife, I now own one of these netbooks. Taking me a while getting used to the keyboard and touchpad. Hopefully, I’ll be able to upgrade it to Intrepid Ibex at some point.
